Travel the World in a Wheel Chair – Let Me Show You How

Chris Tscheinig
Hi, I’m Chris Tscheinig
A solo female traveller and storyteller – rolling through the world one country, one lesson, and more than a few unforgettable, awkward, and unexpectedly joyful moments at a time.
I move through the world on wheels, but it’s how I live that really matters.
Travel is in my blood
From early family road trips to a career across the travel industry – including roles in sales, marketing, customer service with Qantas, and as cabin crew for Virgin Australia – I’ve always been drawn to travel, connection, and the stories that unfold when we step outside the familiar.
Then life changed
In 2017, life handed me a detour – one that changed my mobility, but not my direction.
I still had places to go, stories to live, and a world to rediscover.
That moment shifted everything – not just how I travel, but how I see life. What stayed the same was my belief in possibility and my passion for exploring it.
Why I travel now
I travel solo not to prove a point – but to challenge assumptions about independence, disability, and what it truly means to live fully.
I created Journey Beyond the Chair to share the real, unfiltered side of accessible solo travel: the highlights, the hurdles, and the humour. From navigating airports and awkward encounters to heart-opening connections and spontaneous dance floors – it’s all part of the ride.
This space is for you if…
You’re curious about exploring the world – without fear holding you back.
You’re navigating life with your own challenges, whether visible or not.
You’ve wondered if adventure is still possible – especially on your own.
Or maybe you just need a reminder that there’s still so much life waiting beyond the limits we place on ourselves.
Because life doesn’t end when things change –
It just asks us to move forward in a different way.
There’s too much life beyond the sidelines – so I’m out here chasing it, one adventure at a time.
More than a chair:
It’s freedom, a fearless mindset, and living proof that anything is possible when you believe.
A story worth sharing. A call to bold living – because with belief and will, doors can open!

You can always swap the chair for a horse.

You may like to work with me and we both go on the adventure of a life time.
Now you have choice about your life and journey in the wheelchair.
Planning the Trip
Planning is one of the key elements to a successful trip in a wheelchair.
By travelling solo I need to be able to manage the wheelchair along with my one bag of luggage.
The trip in August 2025 will be approximately 6 months so anything special I need to make sure I have it.
I will need to be extra careful in Europe with the cold weather as besides travelling solo in a wheelchair I still need to manage and be on top of my cancer.
I know this will be one of the most exciting times of my life. I can’t wait to share my travels, tips and expertise with a wheelchair with you when I return.
Expertise comes from experience. I wanted to go solo so I could truthfully tell you and teach you everything that happened during my travels and what you need to watch out for and be aware of.
